Satya (J.D.Chakravarthy) is an orphan who comes to Mumbai. He is insulted in a bar by a local gangster who has him sent to jail on false grounds. In the jail, Satya comes in contact with the gangster Bhiku Mhatre (Manoj Bajpai) who later helps him murder the offending gangster. This gangster belonged to the rival Gurunarayan gang. Satya in no time takes over Bhikus gang. Bhau Chawale (Govind Namdeo) is a local politician who seeks harmony between the two rivals in view of the forthcoming elections. However, Bhiku kills Gurunarayan at the instruction of Satya, as it becomes question of their survival. The police are pressurised by the politicians for their inactivity. This results in the deputation of a new Police Commissioner Amod Shukla (Paresh Rawal) who is a practical person and instructs his subordinates to kill the gangsters on sight. As a result, Bhikus loyal & favourite colleague is killed. This evokes anger within the gang and so, they kill the Police Commissioner. Meanwhile, Bhau wins the election. When Bhiku goes to greet him, Bhau kills him and asks Kallu Mama to join him. When Satya learns of this, he plots Bhaus murder with the help of Kallu Mama. The duo kill Bhau on the last day of Ganesh Festival and decide to leave India. But Satya wants to meet his lover Vidya (Urmila Matondkar) one last time. At the last moment, he is shot dead by the police."
